This is a quick update on my phone. I'm housesitting again, looking after two crazy Burmese named Basil and Peanut, and my laptop is playing up. I was in a hurry when packing to come here so just grabbed a bunch of stuff I had laying out on the counter already.
The two Estée Lauder sample pots are courtesy of their latest promotion: free ten-day samples. I'm trying out the Doublewear Light in 3.0, and the Doublewear BB Cream in 02. So far I'm liking the coverage of the DW Light, although it's a little tough to remove; I'm finding my Olay Regenerist face brush really useful for that. The BB cream is a thick gel-like consistency and requires a bit of warming up, but it lasts really well on me with a bit of powdering (it has a slightly tacky finish).
I have two concealers with me -- the Rimmel Wake Me Up (no shade name on the actual tube!) and Estée Lauder Doublewear in 08 Warm Light Medium. I'm currently about NC30 for reference's sake. The Rimmel has a peachy undertone to it along with some minor pearlescent glow, and works well for the under eye area. I'm kind of ambivalent about the EL -- nice texture, but it's not particularly pigmented and doesn't cover up my darkest acne pigmentation very well.
The full-sized options I have with me are the Maybelline Fit Me Stick in 235 and YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat in B60. You can read my Beauty Review review on the Fit Me sticks here; I've been using 220 and 235 and both work on me, colour-wise. Even the 310 would be close, just a little bit too pink for me. The YSL is one of my favourite foundations ever -- it looks like skin but has good medium coverage. The B60 is ever so slightly too dark for me at the moment and doesn't match my neck, although it does bring my face closer to the colour of the rest of me, so it kind of depends what I'm wearing.
The Hourglass Ambient Powder in Luminous Light is a subtle highlight on me. You could possibly even use it as a very glowy finishing powder, but you can see some disconcertingly large bits of shimmer if you go right up close to a mirror under direct lighting.
MAC's MSFN is kind of a go-to for me. It's not very finely-milled, though - I find that I go through it really quickly in comparison to other pressed powders I've used, and that it can go a little cakey.
Nars Laguna is quite subtle on me because I find that it's really close to my natural skintone, so it's more of a winter option. Albatross is a seriously beautiful highlighter with a golden pearly undertone; I like using it with a fan brush. Orgasm is quite close to my medium skintone in the same vein as Laguna, and I find that I need quite a heavy hand for the colour to show up, and sometimes that can mean packing on a bit too much shimmer.
I might do a quick skincare update if my laptop decides to cooperate!
